Since May 2024, visitors to the new Erzherzog Johann Museum can expect a fascinating journey through the life of the founder of the Universalmuseum Joanneum. In 7 rooms and with an exhibition area of around 650 square metres, many original objects are used to present the ideas, models, institutions and also the difficulties in Archduke Johann's life. In this way, the myth surrounding this personality and life in the 19th century is given a new perspective.
With prominent works, including treasures by Egon Schiele, Herbert Boeckl and Wilhelm Thöny, the Neue Galerie Graz will present the highlights from its outstanding collection in 2024. The Museum of History is using the Blaschka photo archive, which consists of around 60,000 35mm negatives, to reflect on the relationship between paid, precarious and unpaid work in women's lives between 1950 and 1970.
Schloss Trautenfels is taking part in the "European Capital of Culture Bad Ischl Salzkammergut 2024" with a reference project, opening doors to current socio-political and historical aspects that are of particular importance to the district of Liezen: The exhibition People, the World and Things offers a comprehensive look at regionally specific topics such as geology, habitats, agriculture, globalisation, climate change and more.
