The hut is made of strong logs and is one of the three-roomed hut types. The entrance on the eaves side leads into the ‘Hittn’, where the open hearth with the cheese kettle is located. To the left and right of the central main room are two rooms, one of which served as a storeroom and storage room for butter and cheese, and one as a parlour and bedroom. The steep roof is a raftered roof covered with shingles.

The work on the mountain pastures of the Styrian Enns Valley was mostly carried out by the women, who were responsible for the cattle and all the milk processing as ‘Schwoagerinnen’ or ‘Brentlerinnen’. Only rarely did they receive help from the home farm in the form of a ‘Kuhdirn’ or a ‘Hiatabuam’.
