Classic Craft

in the Austrian Open-Air Museum

Preserving and passing on classical crafts is one of the most important core tasks of the Austrian Open-Air Museum and forms the basis for maintaining the historical substance in the museum. As a centre of excellence and information platform, the Austrian Open-Air Museum Stübing collects, documents, preserves and communicates comprehensive knowledge about classical crafts.

Craft courses

The courses impart theoretical and practical knowledge about traditional timber construction techniques, everyday farming life in the past and agricultural labour techniques with a link to the present.

 

Meeting point for crafts

The Open-Air Museum brings classic craftsmanship to life and visitors can take a look at the conservation work or help with the museum's work.  

 

Show and hands-on workshop

The Open-Air Museum regularly hosts craftspeople who demonstrate traditional handicraft and needlework techniques and invite visitors to try them out. Participation is welcome!
