Mission statement

In 2024, we also adopted a new mission statement for the Kunsthaus in which the Kunsthaus defines itself as an exhibition and production centre, a laboratory and an experimental art gallery. The mission statement aims to anchor the Kunsthaus internationally, but also to maintain an intensive exchange and involvement with the local and regional art scene. Along the focal points that appear in the mission statement, there are three guidelines along which we think about the programme, but also the development of the house.

SUSTAINABLE THINKING

to pursue long-term content concepts, which is already reflected in the long-term research/exhibition themes, but also to develop a sustainable archive and a primarily immaterial, site-specific collection in practice. Sustainable design means both thinking and acting sustainably.

SHARING

means a strong focus on imparting knowledge through the exhibition programme as well as through the education programme. It is also about strengthening the role of the Kunsthaus as a place of education, and cooperation with educational institutions, both schools and universities, is attached.

OPEN

refers to international and local collaborations as well as links with various sectors and audiences. This refers to programmes and projects in which we act inclusively so that all people can participate in art and culture. Opening up also means working in an interdisciplinary way and linking up with other players in order to contribute to a broad platform and the possibility of interdisciplinary knowledge building.

BIX Projects

Power of Urban Interfaces

Power of AI
BIX competition

With the knowledge gained, the competition on the topic of energy in times of AI, or ‘Power of AI’, will be launched in the summer, which will be a focus of the education programme in the second half of the year in particular as an aspect of dealing with power.

KunsthausCommunity

With the new KunsthausCommunity membership programme, Kunsthaus Graz aims to target young people and encourage them to approach social issues from the perspective of art.

For just 20 euros a year, you can take part in a wide range of activities that invite you to enter into dialogue: with artists, but also with a wide variety of participants from civil society. Previews, excursions and talks show how art can broaden perspectives on life and the diverse challenges of our time.
