BIX media facade

The BIX is a light and media facade at the Kunsthaus Graz facing the Mur and the city centre. Since its opening in 2003, it has served artists and curators as a means of communication and interaction with the urban space. The BIX emphasises the organically shaped structure through its changing lighting.

The BIX

The BIX is part of the ,Skinʻ: the Kunsthaus Graz has no walls, no roof and no plinth, but a coherent shell, a skin".
Peter Cook and Colin Fournier, architects of the Kunsthaus Graz.

"We threw overboard the usual evaluative standards of screen technology: no colour, low resolution and old technology that can do very little. Why? Because the media facades of the time were strongly exposed to economic constraints. With the Kunsthaus it was different."
