About the
Exhibition

The lawn is an image that is generally considered to be worth preserving. It is pleasing to the eye because the mere sight of it awakens the anticipation of feeling softness underfoot. It is therefore better not to walk on it, so as not to damage the image through use.

Simona Obholzer is interested in moments like these, which place the human body in relation to the picture, and these are explored in her exhibition. The lawn in its pictorial quality and as a symbol of artificial nature is not only at the focus of the trailer she created for Diagonale '25 - her solo exhibition Pleasing to the eye, soft on the feet is also dedicated to what we supposedly stand on and predominantly move on: the ground.

Simona Obholzer's works, which she realises in various media, formats and techniques, examine the interaction between the image space and experiential space. In doing so, the artist plays with the tension between real and virtual spaces and creates irritations that sharpen our perception and promote our awareness of space and physicality.
