In the past, every farm and every chasuble had a home garden with vegetables, flowers, aromatic herbs and medicinal plants, which were also introduced to the farmers by the monasteries. Each farm studied the efficacy of the local herbs in detail in order to make teas, ointments or tinctures based on the ancient experiences of their ancestors. Women were the bearers of healing knowledge in the families. Healing knowledge was passed down from grandmother to mother, from generation to generation.
