The log-built multi-purpose building was still in use until 1964. The steep pitched roof is thatched. Two overshot water wheels each operate an oil mill and a grain mill.

The linseed obtained from flax was crushed in the oil mill and then pressed into linseed oil using a flail press. Linseed oil is highly valued in medicine and as a foodstuff. The mill, which is still in operation today, was used to grind grain into flour.
