This barn is a speciality of South Tyrol, as it has a steep, thatched roof in the middle of a landscape of houses with flat pitched purlin roofs.
The barn, which is built over a brick stable in a post-and-beam construction, has continuous long scales in the carpentry and can be accessed both from the mountain side and via a staircase attached to the front. The steep purlin roof is closed off on both gable ends by so-called ‘shield hips’.
