The log-built grain mill is still fully operational. The simple grinding gear is driven by the water wheel, which is operated via a wooden flume (fluder), using a gristle, a camp wheel and a ‘Triebling’. The mill consists of two millstones, the stationary ‘Leger’ and the rotating ‘Läufer’. The grain is ground into flour between the two. The purlin roof of the Schnals mill is covered with long planks.
