.The construction and function of the wheel mill, which is built with over-combed logs, corresponds to the simple rural grain mills that have been common in the Alpine countries since the Middle Ages. An overshot mill wheel is operated with water via a fludder. A simple grinding gear is set in rotation by the corrugated beam (grindl) via the camp wheel and ‘Triebling’ and grinds the grain brought in via the ‘Gossen’ into flour. The vibrating or bag fork and the flour bag ensure the separation of flour and bran and the transport of the flour into the flour box. The shingle-covered saddle roof is pulled forward over the water wheel to prevent excessive exposure to sunlight.
