The oven, made of Weinsberg granite, stands slightly away from the farmstead. As a temperature of 250 to 300 degrees Celsius was required to bake bread, ovens were built outdoors due to the risk of fire, but also because of the undesirable heat indoors in summer. The ‘Brachhuber baking oven’ is built in such a way that the side walls of the oven and the centre-pitched saddle roof are raised above the heating opening. This keeps wind and weather away from the oven fire.
