Landscape – construction of a reality

Piece each 29,90 €

In common parlance, landscape has generally come to approximate nature. Yet in theoretical reflection, the two terms are in no way considered equivalent, for landscape is culturally determined per se, formed by the human hand and thus ever linked to civilisation.

The Landscape reader compiles numerous artistic and theoretical approaches with the aim of reflecting on the present-day role of landscape. It is based on five exhibitions that have taken different approaches to exploring the theme: Disputed Landscape (Camera Austria), Landscape: Transformation of an Idea (Neue Galerie Graz), Political Landscape (Institute for Art in Public Space Styria), and Landscape in Motion and HyperAmerica (Kunsthaus Graz).

With texts by Jens Asthoff, Estelle Blaschke, Reinhard Braun, Katrin Bucher Trantow, Gudrun Danzer, Günther Holler-Schuster, Christian Höller, Monika Holzer-Kernbichler, Katia Huemer, Philipp Kaiser, Alanna Lockward, Dirck Möllmann, Karl Schlögel, Elisabeth Schlögl, Claudia Slanar, Christian Schwägerl, Robert Smithson, Hannah Stippl, Thomas Weski, as well as a conversation featuring Sabine Flach and Peter Pakesch.
