The opening concert is based on the work Whispering Walls of Irena Z. Tomažin , in which she explores the mechanisms of censorship, the silencing of voices, the systematic overhearing of the ‘victim's’ speech, or the evaluation and sharing of voices that are supposed to be human and worthy of our attention, as opposed to voices that have no right to speak, to speak out, or even to be listen to and heard out.
With Austria based pianist and composer Elisabeth Harnik, who has created a multi-faceted body of work by blurring genre boundaries through various collaborations in the field of improvised music, interdisciplinary projects and contemporary compositional works, they compose an electro-acoustic musical experiment consisting of old folk songs and contemporary experimental music. Parts of the concert would be predetermined and composed, while other parts would be improvised and underpinned by recordings of speech or readings of various censored or overheard contemporary texts.
