About the
Project

The next climate strike will take place in Graz on Friday, September 24, 2021. It starts at 12:00 p.m. at Griesplatz, the route leads past the Kunsthaus and the demonstration ends at 2 p.m. in Franz-Graf-Allee. The BIX Media Facade is also taking part in the climate strike and will remain dark on Friday.

The exhibition SHOWING STYRIA: what will be in spring 2021 was the occasion for the Kunsthaus Graz to join the international Museums for Future network and to take action on issues related to sustainability and energy consumption.

The Kunsthaus Graz supports the “Declaration of Museums for Future”, according to which the fastest possible and effective climate policy measures are essential to achieve the 1.5 degree target of the Paris Climate Agreement. The museums participating in the network support and take part in climate strikes organised by Fridays for Future; commit to informing their audiences about the impact of the man-made climate crisis and highlighting the urgency for change; review and reduce the environmental footprint of their own institution; and finally, use the museum’s  impact potential to spread awareness through their own networks.
