Laugh and make others laugh because too serious is not very serious. Under this motto, Kunsthaus Graz was hosting a participatory project with the artist Famakan Magassa around the end of the year holidays, for which he temporarily moved his studio to the Needle. In his works, Magassa combines the everyday with current socio-political issues. The works of the Malian-born artist speak of the need for individual fulfilment and emotional connection, the universal desire for freedom, but also of violence, oppression and displacement.  "Like acrobats with pen, brush, pencil and stroke, we fight with colourful weapons, cheeky paintings and this sometimes cynical humour that allows us to express that life is a tragicomedy where laughter says more than the speeches."
