About the
Event

The shifting roles of museums in society have also led to structural changes within museums. One of these is the increasing focus of the curatorial field on education, thus blurring the traditional divisions between curators and art & cultural educators. While Carmen Mörsch did not see much fulfilment of this potential in 2012, we would like to ask what the situation looks like today. What forms of collaborative work are emerging? What resources, processes, and dynamics are needed? How can different kinds of expertise communicate with each other? What types of museum production are being created, and how are they changing professional self-conceptions? And to what extent are digitalisation processes also promoting and enabling new forms of networked working in museums? Taking an interdisciplinary approach, we will examine specific models and products of cooperation as well as possibilities of organisational development in which the agendas of educating and curating are given equal space and consideration.
