OPEN FIELDS - Art and Agriculture

With the project OPEN FIELDS the Institute for Art in Public Space Styria combines the realms of art and agriculture. It includes 12 sub-projects by various international artists and art collectives and just as many Styrian farms.

Nicht-Wissen / Un-Knowing

Under the title Un-Knowing the collective efforts of the artist and researcher Paul Wiersbinski, the farmers Carmen and Stefan Dreier-Zwetti, as well as other locals of the Pöllau area created a multi-faceted artwork.

Wiersbinski examines and questions different systems, working at the intersection of art, science and technology. From this exchange of knowledge, dealing with the importance and the tolerance of not-knowing and the unknown, a unique performance, video collages and a sensitive and haunting publication titledUn-Knowing came into being, raising new questions about larger contexts such as climate change and financial markets, bodies and borders, senses and logic, nature and cybernetics.
