About the
Event

This year, Alexandra Riewe's four knowledgeable excursions in all directions focus on the end of the Second World War, which will be 80 years old in 2025. The title "Strapazierte Heimat" reminds us that the German term “Heimat” has been used as a catchphrase for many things, misused by demagogues for propaganda purposes and appropriated for commercial trash.

BRAUCH KA GROßE WELT

... I wü ham nach Fürstenfeld - this line from STS expresses the frustration of failure in the capital Vienna (oama Steirerbua!). But “if you never leave, you never come home” (Luis Trenker). Isolation and renunciation of the big world only leads to local patriotism and “dwarfism” (Van der Bellen), the “island of the blessed” is canceled. In Fürstenfeld, Günter Pedrotti is once again our host. We then ride along the L444, which leads from Fürstenfeld to the Burgenland border, under the watchful eye of the camouflaged radar boxes of Michael Schuster Razzle Dazzle. At the beginning and end of the tour, we see the image of the “world in a nutshell” twice: first the impressive radome, an objet trouvé of former military use, which today is an impressive empty art space in which all kinds of things can be performed or even imagined. Finally, we visit farmer Franz Gsellmann's “world machine”, which almost threatened to burst the space during his lifetime. Today, the later extension allows us to view this unique kinetic work of art.
