About the
Event

This year, Alexandra Riewe-Foitl's four knowledgeable excursions in all directions focus on the end of the Second World War, which will be 80 years old in 2025. The title "Strapazierte Heimat" reminds us that the German term “Heimat” has been used as a catchphrase for many things, misused by demagogues for propaganda purposes and appropriated for commercial trash.

Blood and soil

Josef Taucher selected minerals from the scree of Mons Styriae altissimus, the Grimming, which he exhibited in a display case in front of St. John's Chapel in Pürgg. After Pürgg (meaning “castle” and can be described as the first residence of Styria), the tour continues to the home of Paula Grogger, also the childhood home of Martin Pollack (Contaminated Landscapes). In the Klang-Film-Theater in Schladming, examples from the oeuvre of Ingeborg Strobl and a mixed Geierwally show all facets of the “Heimatfilm”.

With works by Hartmut Skerbisch, Jochen Gerz, Giselbert Hoke, Christoph Grill, Joseph Taucher, Erika Thümmel, Walter Ritter/Herbert Eichholzer, Hans Kupelwieser, Ingeborg Strobl
