With the project OPEN FIELDS the Institute for Art in Public Space Styria combines the realms of art and agriculture. It includes 12 sub-projects by various international artists and art collectives and just as many Styrian farms.

The Great Cycle

Intensive conversations, fathoming and delving into possibilities for the ecological treatment of nature, i.e., humans, animals and agriculture, between Markus Hiesleitner and the sheep farmer Siegfried Pommer shaped the artist’s stays in Groß Sankt Florian over the course of a year starting in summer 2022.

Titled The Great Cycle Hiesleitner’s project communicates these notions through unique choices in form and material. The interconnected whole presented to us opens up differentiated perspectives and completely new insights.
