Woher der Wind weht (From Where the Wind Blows)

Tobias Rehberger developed an installation somewhere between sculpture, architecture and design especially for the border location on the Styrian Wine Route. This refers to the long-controversial demarcation that finally took place here in 1955 as a sign of political unification after the Second World War. Visible from afar, the 3.6-meter-high work carries a rotating cylinder with two arrowheads, on which ornaments in the Austrian and Slovenian national colors are applied. The words AUSTRIA and SLOVENIA are legible in a windless state. As soon as the wind moves the kinetic sculpture, it triggers dynamic processes that show the national borders as changeable. A project by the Institute for Art in Public Space Styria.
