Thomas Baumann

Lissa

Thomas Baumann’s kinetic sculpture Lissa is attached at a height of a few meters to the façade of the Neue Galerie Graz in the Joanneum Quarter. With the title, the artist refers on the one hand to the almost identical female first name, on the other hand to the French physicist Jules Antoine Lissajous (1822–1880). Harmonic vibrations, created by adjusting them with different frequencies, were named after him. If one calls the mobile number 0664/8017-9751, the LED-studded ball attached to a delicate carbon fiber rod is set in motion and brightly and sparklingly draws the infinity loop as a Möbius strip in the sky.
