Like a “plant of urban origin,” according to the artist, three different discarded streetlamps are stuck into the façade of the Akademisches Gymnasium: an arc whip lamp, a straight, conically tapering pole with an oval luminaire in the geometric style of the 1980s, and a traditional city park lamp, whose ornately decorated pole was specially cast for this purpose.
During the day in the sunshine, the bouquet of streetlights doubles across the wandering shadows on the façade. In the dark, connected to the street lighting network of the city of Graz, the lamps light up the façade and the square, multiplying the shadows of themselves.
