At 1,150 m above sea level, surrounded by green meadows and forests, lies the Kluppeneggerhof, the birthplace of Peter Rosegger. The "forest farmer's boy" spent the first 17 years of his life here.
Museum in Krieglach
In 1877, Rosegger had a country house built in Krieglach, where he spent the summer months with his family.
Peter Rosegger
Peter Rosegger grew up in a rural society where hardly anyone could read or write. The fact that he became one of the most famous and successful writers of his time was not only due to his talent.
Garden
In the vegetable garden of the Kluppeneggerhof, surrounded by an authentic fence, the plants that made up a large part of the rural diet in Rosegger's time are grown.
The museum's park
In 2016, a new park was created around Rosegger's country house in Krieglach - which is now home to the Rosegger Museum - which invites visitors to linger and relax during opening hours.
Publications
Rosegger's urge to write was very strong: new works appeared almost every year, in some years even several. In total, he published well over 100 titles between 1869 and 1918.
