The drying chamber, which is made of logs, is placed above the oven, which is made of quarry stone. There are 8 grates in which the fruit laid out, such as apples, pears, plums etc., could be dried using the heat generated in the oven. The layers had to be repeatedly rearranged due to the varying heat. The basic construction corresponds to today's drying devices. In winter, flax could also be dried here and then crushed in the barn.

Around Christmas time, these ‘Kletzen’ are used to make ‘Kletzen bread’ (fruit bread).
