The exhibition titled LeftOver takes us on a poetic journey through the life of a young Persian woman who shifts between two worlds. Having grown up in post-revolutionary Iran, Yasaman Hasani has lived in Austria for many years.
In a poetic arrangement made up of two self-illustrated films and an installation, Hasani offers us insight into her personal experience of gender-specific stereotypes in the two cultures. Cautiously, she explores the open space and potentialities of contemporary art located between Vienna and Teheran, and so the zones between alleged freedoms and social prescriptions, between feminist achievements and patriarchal structures, and between avantgarde aesthetic and traditional symbolism.
