With ca. 100 paintings and drawings the Neue Galerie Graz features the most extensive collection of artworks by Wilhelm Thöny (1888, Graz – 1949, New York).
The dedication of the "Steiermärkische Sparkasse", a Styrian bank, made it possible to add important works to the collection which are now presented in the permanent exhibition on the ground floor.
In this way we show our appreciation of Wilhelm Thöny's unique position within Austrian painting and his importance for the art scene in Graz during the Interwar years.
