Every two years the Neue Galerie Graz organizes the contest and the exhibition for the „Promotion Prize of the State of Styria for Contemporary Fine Arts “. This event represents an important platform for established artists as well as for newcomers of the local art scene.
The fact that most of the participating artists live at different places in Austria and abroad, although they have familiar or educational roots in Styria, leads to internationally valid artistic expressions and quality levels. International jurors contribute with their external view to the attraction of the contest and its very contemporary exhibition.
In 2010 the exhibition will take place at the Künstlerhaus Graz, one of the most beautiful exhibition spaces in Styria. Christiane Meyer-Stoll, curator of the renowned Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein, will be the juror of the contest. Already in 2006 there was a cooperation of the Neue Galerie with the Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein and Christiane Meyer-Stoll presenting an extensive retrospective of the minimal artist Fred Sandback.
