Nature is Within. The Painter Wolfgang Hollegha

Piece each 29,90 €

In the person of Wolfgang Hollegha (born in Klagenfurt in 1929, lives in Rechberg, Styria), the Neue Galerie honours one of Austria’s most important artists since 1945. As a member of the avant-garde painters’ group around the Galerie nächst St. Stephan in Vienna, he achieved early international success. His painting is always based on the perception of the concrete, on the relationship between the artist and visible reality. In his work the artistic process, in which the physical function plays an essential role, leads to large-scale paintings via the route of drawings; the external world is subjectively transformed into the visual world of the painter. The catalogue to the exhibition Nature is Within shows Hollegha’s artistic path based on key works, presenting them in their international context with former colleagues Morris Louis and Sam Francis.
