The song cycles ‘Harawi’, ‘Poèmes pour Mi’ and ‘Chant de terre et de ciel’ are a reflection of Messiaen's deep roots in the spiritual context of music and expand vocal expression beyond traditional boundaries. His love for the voices of birds was the source of inspiration for his vocal compositions. The presentation of the three song cycles, including the chamber music cycle ‘Quatuor pour la fin du temps’, leads through a whole day.
