According to Statistics Austria, hundreds of thousands of women live with domestic violence in Austria alone. Violence creates shame, fear and paralysed silence. We discuss ways to raise your voice, be aware and have the courage to seek help with Elfie Semotan (photographer of the SIOLENCE project), Günther Ebenschweiger (prevention expert), Katrin Feldermann (Professor of Social Work, Carinthia University of Applied Sciences), Petra Leschanz (Women's Service Graz), Judith Schwentner (Deputy Mayor of Graz), Petra Werkovits (initiator Siolence, Soroptimist International) and others.
Sieglinde Feldhofer (soprano, Graz Opera) sings!
To conclude the programme: Soroptimist International Austria awards a prize to Katrin Felbermann for "outstanding achievements in society". Moderation: Katrin Bucher Trantow
For information on how to react in case of suspected or experienced violence: frauenberatung-steiermark.at or gewaltschutzzentrum.at
