The question “Who owns the city?” was asked by the Chicago School of Urban Sociology in the 1930s and has lost none of its explosiveness since then. It concerns questions of resource distribution and accessibility, but also the possibility of representation.
Clear the stage for youth in public space!
The Universalmuseum Joanneum, which is part of this cooperation through customer loyalty in the school sector and the mediation of the History Museum, Folk Life Museum at the Paulustor and the State Armoury, is the co-organizer and host of this year's edition.
Under the above motto, on April 27th in the Heimatsaal of the Folk Life Museum students, children and young people will be able to talk to experts about their opportunities for participation and co-determination in public spaces.
We have already worked intensively with classes in preparation for this day. With regard to the question "What is political action and where does it begin to have an impact on our everyday lives?", the art and cultural education department of the Folk Life Museum worked with experts from Beteiligung.st. (the Department for Participation), developed programs and intensively discussed, researched and coordinated them.
In the course of this, the young people's demands and slogans (to politicians) were created, which will run across the BIX media façade during the action days. In this way, the wishes and concerns of the young people will also be visible in the public space.
