The name Black Quantum Futurism stands for a collaborative, interdisciplinary creative practice by Camae Ayewa and Rasheedah Phillips. Founded in Philadelphia in 2014, the collective is dedicated to participatory, collaborative, personal story-based, political and activist projects that break away from traditional concepts of space and time - inspired by alternative visions of the future, Afro-diasporic temporalities, quantum physics and speculative fiction. By mobilising the past, local histories and memories, they develop new visions of the future.
The intervention on the BIX Media Facade is an extension of their work All Time is Local, which radiates into the urban space of Graz as a neon sign on the roof of the Eisernes Haus.
