Aldo Giannotti’s Viral is a series of drawings reflecting the time of the lockdown introduced successively across Europe and the USA during the Corona pandemic in the spring of 2020. These subtle and lively works chart the rapidly changing current events in the mirror of Giannotti’s own life, a deft commentary on both political actions and everyday routine shaped by government recommendations, restrictive measures, visionary humour and a growing sense of insecurity. From cancelled exhibitions through to excessive food shopping, Giannotti’s pithy sketches reveal the gradual shift from one social norm to another.
