`You can examine everything in terms of its sculptural quality. If anything comes of it is another question. Is there a limit on sculpturality, and if so, where? I’ve been thinking about it for decades. Can the concept of absurdity be a sculpture? Can the concept of embarrassment be a sculpture? I keep trying, time and again. Erwin Wurm’s solo exhibition Football-sized lump of clay on a light blue car roof includes works developed specially for the Kunsthaus Graz, whereby elements of the performative, participatory and sculptural are connected with each other and the building.

 

The publication shows the complexity of the concept of sculpture in Erwin Wurm’s work and sees into the development of the exhibition. It comprises texts by Günther Holler-Schuster, Monika Holzer-Kernbichler and Katia Huemer, a conversation with Erwin Wurm as well as numerous images sharing the process of the development of the exhibition and the final installation at the Kunsthaus Graz.
