This catalogue is published to accompany the exhibition Herbert Brandl. TOMORROW at the Kunsthaus Graz, 23 October 2020 to 7 March 2021.

As part of the exhibition TOMORROW by Herbert Brandl, the catalogue THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW has been created, containing a collection of Brandl’s photographs that gives an insight into his artistic interests and his surroundings. Based on books that Herbert Brandl has published almost annually in recent years for himself and a few friends, the concept of the book is based on methods from digitally and commercially produced photo books. Standardized layout programs do not decide on placement, algorithms make suggestions for the selection of the images themselves and even evaluate them from an aesthetic point of view. The possibilities for the client to intervene are correspondingly limited.

The publication for the Kunsthaus Graz, which is unusual in several respects, shows photos that fall into the period of exhibition preparation. Notes by Herbert Brandl and curator Barbara Steiner as well as a text by Günther Holler-Schuster accompany the photographic part and follow the same design logic as the photos.
