Elevate is an annual interdisciplinary festival held in various venues in Graz, Austria, with a strong focus on cultural and socio-political topics. In addition to performances, concerts, installations and DJ sets, the interdisciplinary program offers workshops, film screenings, lectures and discussions.
The unique combination of critical political discourse, a diverse and cross-genre music programme, as well as artistic works created an inspiring atmosphere that encouraged the search for common ground and even unlikely alliances. Particularly gratifying was the international influx from across Europe, with visitor numbers surpassing pre-pandemic levels.
The festival brought together activists, bestselling authors, experts, climate researchers, as well as musicians and artists from various fields from around the world. This gathering facilitated a fascinating, cross-genre, and hands-on exchange on this year's thematic motif, (Unlikely) Alliances.
Expected highlights of the festival edition included performances by the author Sibylle Berg, the synthesizer virtuoso Caterina Barbieri, the philosophy star Slavoj Žižek, and the concert by Panda Bear & Sonic Boom.
In the discourse area, exciting and future-oriented discussions under the theme (Unlikely) Alliances highlighted intersections between different perspectives and disciplines.
In the art section, various facets of contemporary art were presented. Artistic works by Caterina Barbieri, Andreas Trobollowitsch, zweintopf, and many others were part of the programme.
