Markus Jeschaunig
This book is dedicated to Markus Jeschaunig's Oase No. 8 (Oasis No. 8), an art installation in the form of a tropical waste heat greenhouse, which was on display in Graz from September 2015 to the end of 2016.
Markus Jeschaunig's artistic work explores themes of the interrelation between culture and nature. The Urban Oasis project provides the framework for a discourse on artistic research. This publication examines artistic and scientific strategies and their potential for mediating between knowledge production and society. The artist understands his work as agency, the work of art as a living organism with a social dimension. Authors from various disciplines negotiate questions about the hybrid relationship between the technological and the natural, and the aesthetic dimension of ecology.
