As a versatile cultural center, the Joanneumsviertel combines historic museum and library buildings into a modern architectural entity. The historically oldest part of the museum in Raubergasse, a beautiful early Baroque building, houses the Natural History Museum and the CoSA - Center of Science Activities.
The remarkable courtyards of the building complex, the large Joanneumsviertelplatz and the historic Lesliehof, provide an enchanting setting each year for important festivals of the Styrian art and culture scene. The neo-baroque museum building Neutorgasse houses the Neue Galerie Graz. As a third pillar, the Joanneum Quarter houses the Styrian State Library.
The Visitor Center, which was opened on November 26, 2011, on the occasion of the Joanneum's foundation anniversary, creates a connection between all buildings and serves as an entrance with a museum store and an event hall. An escalator leads to the belly of the event and exhibition center in the heart of Graz.
