About the
Exhibition

The special exhibition ‘Note the Difference’ explores what you can do with money – meaning, more than just pay with it – and how much science is to be found in our daily means of payment. Visitors will learn how gold can be chemically dissolved and why it is physically impossible to take a bath in coins – unless you are Scrooge McDuck.

How much technology goes into a banknote is shown, for some security features can only be seen in the right light. Holograms, microprinting and magnetic strips are examined under a microscope and, in passing, you can even learn the best way to crack a safe.
