Leo! Peaceful Takeover from Below

In Knittelfeld the visual and performing artist and trained cemetery gardener Florian Berger worked with the local youth on freeing public spaces from their predetermined usage. The creation of public space is a process we cannot usually join. However, we might want to use the spaces assigned to us differently or not at all.

In a multi-day building workshop Berger and the teenagers questioned their potentials and their interests while learning how to build. They discussed the needs of their city and searched it for new locations and developed spaces in which they could be undisturbed, were allowed to fail and experiment. The artist Sebastian Sattlecker aided their efforts.

Time Table:

4:30 pm: Meeting at the main entrance to the city cemetery Knittelfeld for a walk to the Roseggerschule

5 pm: Visit of the „Leo!"-square, Roseggergasse 2, 8720 Knittelfeld

Afterwards: Handover of the square to the local youth and a small party
