At 1,150 m above sea level, surrounded by green meadows and forests, lies the Kluppeneggerhof, the birthplace of Peter Rosegger. The "forest farmer's boy" spent the first 17 years of his life here. The people in the area, his own experiences and those of his family inspired him to write stories and poems, which he began to record at a young age. already at a young age. Many of his best-known stories are about events on and around his home farm. They provide an insight into rural life in the middle of the 19th century and tell of a time that seems strange to us today: of festivals and joys, of the poverty and simplicity of the rural population. The birthplace with the large parlor and the Rauchkuchl, the "Umadumstall" and the Brechelhütte invite you to get to know the deprived life of the people of Rosegger's time. The Austrian folk poet Peter Rosegger was born on July 31, 1843 as the first of seven children in this simple 18th century mountain farmhouse. Living conditions were extremely modest: Cooking was done over the fireplace in the Rauchkuchl, the central parlor was used for eating and sleeping, but also as a workroom. Numerous furnishings, which bear witness to simple farming life in the 19th century, can be viewed here.
